MPB: Platform Redesign
UI/UX design, Art direction, Graphic design
For: MPB (global recommerce platform for camera gear)

I recently led UI design in a project to rebuild the MPB customer-facing platform from the ground up.
The MPB site has been expanded incrementally with features over many years to streamline the trading process. A key goal with this redesign was to lay out these features (as well as planned future ones) in an intuitively discoverable and usable way while keeping the platform simple in design with no unnecessary distractions.
UI
The first step was developing a clean mobile-first UI design system reflecting the established brand guidelines that would be beautifully responsive and adaptive across viewport sizes and international languages.
The intention was to hero photography prominently while making liberal use of white space for breathing room, and using colour systematically to clearly signpost ‘next steps’ along customer journeys. It’s also built to incorporate dynamic content in key places that the marketing teams will be able to add to and edit without technical support.

Buy journey
Buying from MPB
Uniquely, rather than simply categories and products, MPB has individual pages for every used iteration of a product - so it was essential that searching, sorting and filtering was made as intuitive as possible, and that category, model and product pages were distinct in their display to avoid confusion.

Sell journey
Selling to MPB
Selling and trading leads are core to the business needs, so it was important that this process have no unnecessary road blocks and be as quick and easy to complete as possible. People are often apprehensive about sending their gear to an unknown company, so we have surfaced third-party reviews to instill trust and provided clear routes to more information.
Content
MPB delivers a constant output of blog content. Since this is targeted at photographers and creatives, it needs to be displayed as beautifully as possible. In light of this, I developed a comprehensive set of content blocks that could be used situationally to showcase photography, text and video in an optimised format.
